We made it to England! We are so excited that we finally got to go on this long awaited trip.
Early in the morning, we flew from John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County to San Jose International Airport (SJC) in San Jose, CA. From there, we made the 10.5 hour journey to London, England with British Airways. During the summer of 2022, the cost of flights to England from LAX were out of control. As a result, Heather started looking into other airports to see how we could get the best deal. We were able to book both flights from SJC for less than the cost of one ticket from LAX! Even with our added flight from SNA to SJC, the tickets were still about half the price.
Once we landed at London Heathrow, we hoped on the Heathrow Express train. Although it’s not the cheapest option, it is the fastest way to get to central London from the airport.
The next day, we walked 30,000 steps all around London! Although London has great public transportation, it is also super walkable. Once you are out and about from your hotel, the next site is usually only 10-15 minute walk away. Also, the city is filled with beautiful parks!
We spent the whole day exploring by foot. If you want to follow our same path, this is where we went: Paddington Station, Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Palace of Westminster, River Thames, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, China Town, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Oxford Circus, and back to Paddington!
We spent our final full wonderful day sightseeing in London! After enjoying breakfast at Paddington Station, we took the tube over to the Tower of London. From there we crossed Tower Bridge and wandered around Southwark. After taking the tube back, we enjoyed dinner and drinks in Soho.
